Testimony: Peace and comfort prevail over statues and images

by The Gideons International on January 20, 2011

Over the years we have received testimonies from people of many different cultures telling how a copy of God’s Word provided through The Gideons International led them to Christ. Here’s one such true story.

Monagari grew up in Ipoh, in the country of Malaysia. She was born and raised in a staunch Hindu family of 15 children. Even as young girl, she had no desire to pray to the Hindu statues and images. Within her was a longing and searching for a God whom she could worship in spirit and in truth, and who would bring her fullness of joy, peace and comfort.

At the age of 15, she received a Gideon Testament. She fell in love with the book and Jesus. The Scriptures and their wisdom and promises gave her answers to her heart’s questions. A friend later showed Monagari the prayer of salvation.

Though her large family disowned her for abandoning the Hindu faith, Monagari continued her walk with the Lord, clinging to Luke 14:26…

“If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children,
brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.”
–Luke 14:26

Psalm 27:10 “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.”

I imagine that there are more believers in the world who come face to face with this situation, than those of us who do not.

How blessed it is to know God’s WORD is faithful and true, throughout the ages for the entire world!

Let us pray daily for those who follow Jesus!

–Luke 14: 26
