The 2011 International Day Of Prayer, Saturday, June 11th

by The Gideons International on June 10, 2011

June 11th is The Gideons International Day Of Prayer. On this day, thousands of Gideons and Auxiliary in 193 countries will be praying in His Spirit, in His will and in His name.

In Scripture we can see how the early church came together in prayer, as seen in Acts chapter 12:

“Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.” – Acts 12:5 (NKJV)

And we read where an angel led Peter out of the prison shortly after.

We believe that God answers prayers, but we cannot pray effectively in our own power. We need the help of the Holy Spirit, who dwells in us.

“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” –Romans 8:26-27 (NKJV)

As Gideons and Auxiliary throughout the world lift up prayers this Saturday, they will be giving thanks for all that God has done in the past year. And they will be praying for His guidance for the year ahead.

In every time zone throughout the world there will be prayers lifted up by Gideons and Auxiliary for approximately one hour and 20 minutes total.

Prayers will be lifted up for adults and children in countries where Gideons cannot yet share God’s Word, including Iran, Libya, North Korea and the People’s Republic of China.

There will also be prayers lifted up for world, national and local leaders; for churches, pastors, missionaries and Bible teachers; for Christians who are being persecuted; and many more.

Even if you are not a member of The Gideons International, we invite you to pray on your own as well. You may also leave a comment below to let us know you are joining us in prayer.

“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you.” – 2 Thessalonians 3:1 (NKJV)

Thank you for your prayers.

Just leaving for the Int’l Day of Prayer meeting with the camp now. Praying for all you Gideons the world over. As you sleep through the night we will already be on our knees here in Australia. Our country desperately needs to see a shaking out of the complacency which it is currently in.

The Gideons need to be stirred up to do the tasks which God has called us to do. Remember us in your prayers today. Thank you in God’s holy name.

Thank you for this prayer guidelines….Gideons have challenges ahead and everyone must pray without ceasing for those still in darkness imprisoned in their false beliefs and misguided with false promises and prophesies.

Prayer is the key to success.
I need to touch every life in the world through prayer.
I want to join others in intentional, missional, prayer for the lost.

Nearly 20 Gideons and Auxiliary from the West Wilson Camp met for prayer early Saturday morning. What a joy it was to lift our praises and petitions to a Holy God who not only hears – but answers – the cries of His children when we pray for a ministry that He ordained and continues to sustain day by day. We left the prayer meeting energized and more compelled than ever to reach the lost for Jesus Christ. Praise God for the International Day of Prayer!

I’m from in Brazil.
By the Lord’s grace, I’m also an international Gideon: this is wonderful!

He (the Lord Jesus) chose me, saved me, and called me to to be an international Gideon.

In my camp, the International Day of Prayer was a memorable day: we prayed, we sought the Lord’s face, and we implore his mercy on our lives.
