The 2011 London Scripture Blitz – More Lives Are Touched By God’s Word

by The Gideons International on November 25, 2011

David Millar, a Gideon from the British Isles' Coleraine branch, presents a Gideon Scripture at The Bentley Hilton Hotel during the 2011 London Scripture Blitz.

Nearly 200 Gideons participated in the London Scripture Blitz (LSB) from September 21-25.

“The initial vision of the LSB Steering Group was that we had felt that we needed an army of 300, like Gideon. What we had forgotten was that Gideon had his army reduced down to 300,” says Iain Gray for the LSB Steering Group.

“In a similar manner, God gave us a reduced number, but used all of the nearly 200-strong army of God’s people in remarkable ways” he added.

Gideons followed up with a number of the places for days after the blitz, including several hotels, a police station, a hospital and some student housing areas.

One of the follow-ups resulted in over 9,000 more Scriptures being placed with approximately 3,000 more placements scheduled soon at the same location.

What an Almighty God we serve.

On a more somber note, there was a serious house fire in Neasden on Friday night in which a mother and five children lost their lives. Four fire stations in the vicinity “happened” to be on the list for Scripture distributions on Saturday.

“When our team went there, they were given such a positive and appreciative welcome. Undoubtedly God’s timing,” says Iain.

By the end of the blitz, early estimates were that approximately 60,000 Scriptures had been distributed.

Please thank God for every opportunity during this blitz, ranging from the opening of doors to allow significant numbers of Scriptures to be placed in one place to speaking to individuals and leaving them with a Personal Worker’s Testament.

And please pray that God will use the seed that has been sown in a way that will lead to many entering the kingdom of God.

As one of the Auxiliaries involved in the London Scripture Blitz I can say that we certainly saw God’s hand at work time and time again in London – our prayer is that the seed bears fruit in His time.

God certainly open the closed doors at Tooting Fire Brigade and Police Station by suprised Officers who accepted His word for their staff to read.
