A Gideon’s Urgent Text Request For Prayer Has Impact In Two Countries

by The Gideons International on March 13, 2012

Last week we shared a testimony that resulted when a bus broke down during an International Scripture Blitz in Malawi.

One of the Gideons on that bus was a friend of another Gideon, Don, who was back in the U.S.

Don has shared with us that his friend on the bus texted him, asking for prayers for the Scripture Blitz team as they they were stuck in the middle of nowhere and urgently needed bus repairs. Don, his wife (a praying Auxiliary member) and his 10-year-old grandson all joined hands and prayed for the bus situation. A short time later, Don received a reply text saying that the bus had been miraculously repaired. Also, lives were won to Christ as Gideons witnessed to the crowd that had gathered around the bus during the breakdown.

His grandson looked at the text and replied, “Grandaddy, God does answer prayers!” With a smile on his face and a tear in his eyes, Don replied, “Son, He sure does.”

However, the story doesn’t end there. Don says that the Malawi prayer and bus repair incident made a lasting impression on his grandson.

“The tangible evidence of God in our everyday life evidenced to him in the answer to our prayers has encouraged him to witness to his classmates,” says Don. “One boy in his class has confessed his sins and and prayed with my grandson asking Jesus to come inside and fill up the hole in his heart.”

We thank Don for sharing this testimony with us. And we thank God for the heart of Don’s young grandson who is already sharing the Gospel with others. It’s a powerful reminder of how prayer can impact us all and how much your prayers impact the ministry of The Gideons International.

I read this testimony last night and used it at a faith fund breakfast this morning with huge impact. What an amazing God we serve to break a bus to impact people in Malawi and the US simultaneously. Thanks to men that were available and made use of the opportunity when it arose. Praise His wonderful Name
