A Letter From A Chaplain: 57 Sailors Come To Christ

by The Gideons International on September 18, 2012

Working through military chaplains, The Gideons International distributes hundreds of thousands of New Testaments in military installations all around the world each year. A Gideon or military chaplain personally hands each New Testament to a soldier.

Here is a recent letter we received from a Navy Chaplain that demonstrates the need for these distributions:

Thank you for your support. I have been transferred from the USS Nimitz to the Marine Corps, and I need to order more Bibles. I was able to distribute over 1,500 New Testaments from The Gideons International while onboard Nimitz, and as a result saw 57 Sailors come to Christ! Again, thank you for your help, and may God continue to bless you.

Name withheld

(Edited by The Gideons International)

We praise God for how He has chosen to use these Scriptures to win our servicemen and women to the Lord. We pray there’ll be many, many more testimonies to come as a result of these distributions.

Praise God for this awesome testimony of these 57 navy personnel!!!!!!!!!
Once again, in our Lord’s magnificent plan for each one of us, before we were created, these who have come forward and received Him as their Lord and Savior!!!
Thank You, Jesus, dearest Friend anyone can ever have, for Your love, faithfulness and patience.
I am always soo blessed to read about the mighty works of the Holy Spirit using the Gideons to bring His hope to the lost, no matter where they are 😉 even on a ship!!
Thank you Gideons, for all these years of perseverance and God bless you and use you until the day of His return.
In all these things Lord, we give You all the praise and glory because without the cross, all these works would be for naught!
I thank You and praise You Jesus, that You have made it possible for me to be part of the Gideons, however small that part is 😉

Praise the Lord that these 57 men have received the Lord Jesus Christ. I was in the US Navy and I know how difficult it is living aboard ship. There are many many temptations our military men and women are confronted with every day but with the Lord’s help they can overcome them. Praise God for our military chaplains.
