October Is Pastor Appreciation Month

by The Gideons International on October 4, 2013

“We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.”

—1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 (ESV)

Pastors spend countless hours each week preparing sermons, praying for the lost, visiting the sick and elderly, and performing many other behind-the-scenes duties that their congregations often don’t even realize. If you are like many believers, you can reflect upon a pastor who has taught you the Word, equipped you to follow Christ, and challenged you to proclaim your faith.

So please take a minute and think about the pastors who have impacted your life, and then personally thank them. Let them know how they have impacted your life through their leadership and teaching of God’s Word.

And thank them for preaching the Gospel and for their desire to share God’s Word with the lost. While October is specifically designated as a month to appreciate pastors, please remember to pray for them daily and find ways to encourage them throughout the rest of the year.

We didn’t have time to send our Pastor Chuck Smith a ” THANK YOU” card – he has gone home to be with his Jesus whom he loved sooo very much and he is now rejoicing with Him and his loved ones and those that came to know our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, directly because of him. I’m sure there is a long line in heaven, people waiting to thank him for his faithfulness and perseverance to bringing them the Word of God so that they too, now, are in the presence of Jesus with him.
By the praise reports that I have read through the time that I have been connected with the Gideons, those people who came to know Jesus as their Savior and Lord, who then shared with others – who then, also, became believers, they too will be waiting to tell you, Gideons, when our time here on earth is finished and we are all in the presence of our Jesus, Savior and Lord!
God bless you all as you endeavor to work the work the Lord is leading you to do – go into all the world ….. I am with you.
